WORKSHOPS

This coming year, 2009. I am going to be scheduling some workshops for museums, schools, private individuals, groups, and/or organizations. If you are interested and wish to carry on these ways of life, please contact me, so we can discuss the times available. The instructions can range from learning the basis of fan making, learning about the ceremonial uses, learning the different dances style of fan, etc. The fees associated with these workshops, for schools and museums, are going to be $500.00 per day plus the travel expense. If interested in doing something for your tribe, your school, your museum, your organization, or for you private group, please email me or call me to talk about your ideas and thoughts. Finally, the material cost will be your responsibility, thank you.

Here is something that I would like to offer. I am willing to offer these workshops for individuals at $150 per person. You will still be responsible for the travel expense plus a place to stay. Also, you can purchase the necessary raw material from my business. What you will need is some goose feathers, threads and leather. If you want to learn the different types of bead work styles and stitches, you will to provide your own beads. Also, you will need to buy the tools that are required to make these fans. I can provide you with the list if you are interested. I want serious inquires ONLY! If you want me to come to your area, it would be nice to get at least 10 people to commit to the workshop, that will make it worth my time to do these workshops.

“What are they to me?”

They are the feathers that carry my prayers

They are the staff that keeps me standing straight and tall

They are the rhythm in the rattle that gives me pace

They are the beat in the drum that keeps my heart going

They are the medicine that keeps me sane

They are my life.

Greetings to all my relations, I hope you will enjoy this site. Fans, Artists, or those that just like seeing artwork; I hope you find this site educational and exciting!

This website is created for people that want to learn about the artist, the product he sells, and about the purpose of why feather fans are put together, from the Native American Indian's perspective. I ask that you respect the people that own these fans, and also to have pride in having those people willing to share their stories with you on the World Wide Web. We hold these feather fans very sacred in our ceremonies

Will gladly accepted order with these kinds of feathers. Feathers from macaws, parrots, pheasants, turkeys, Impeyans, and cockatoos are all legal to have by First Nations and Non Natives  alike. Any kind of birds that you can have as pets can be own by those who are not Native American Indians. Many different kinds of people are interested in owning these fans. You can own these kinds of feathers and/or fans made out of these feathers. These are all legal to carry and sold over the market everyday. Go to this website to find, and learn about feathers http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pheasant

These fans are used in the Native American Church Ceremonies (Peyote Ceremonies), in Gourd Dances, in Pow-wows dances, in devotions, and among many different tribal dances. The eagle signifies the power associated with the spirits. We use these for our protection in our endeavors, our journey through life, in our dances, and in our ceremonies. These fans are used as intermediaries between the spirit people and us, the human race. We believe these fans have healing powers, so we use them to bless people with. When a person dances with these fan, they think positive thoughts for those relatives that need help, and also to honor themselves and all relations. When a person sings with these fans, many positive thoughts are put into these fans to help people. So, these fans are used for many purposes; it is used for the purpose of protection, for the purpose of healing, for the purpose of accomplishment, and to carrying on our Native Ways. This is our belief, this is our culture, this is our values, this is our tradition, and this is our lifestyle! This is why, I ask that people have respect for those people that have shared this beautiful art with all of us!

TESTIMONIALS!

WHAT PEOPLE ARE SAYING!

THIS IS A PERSONAL THANK YOU TO ALL OUR RELATIVE, AND PEOPLE OF ALL WALKS OF LIFE, THAT SUPPORT THIS TYPE OF ART WORK, AND WHO HAVE GREAT APPRECIATION FOR THIS TYPE OF WORK. Here is what some people are saying about this website, the art work, and sharing your fans with people all over the world!

Yes, I got the fan last night and all I can say is WOW!!! The pictures did not do it justice. I love how unique the feathers are as well as the shape of the fan. It is very different from anything I've seen carried out in the circle. The bead and feather work are absolutely fantastic and so detailed. Thanks so much. I look forward to dancing with it this summer.

Ivy , Calgary, Canada

I received the fan today. You are right. I do like it. It is beautiful, a real work of art! I really like the featherwork. And the beadwork goes well with the cane/stick I carry when I dance.
I had those macaw feathers and wasn't sure how to work them up. So, I turned to you. You really made them look good. I like the feathers you selected and the way you matched them up.
I appreciate your willingness to take my word that even though I'm non-Indian I'm serious about participating in Indian ways and respectful of those ways. I had good teachers from the Ponca tribe--Abe Conklin, Harry Buffalohead, Paul Roughface, Alice Little Cook.
I hope to meet you someday, so I can thank you in person.
--Jim, North Caralina

Thank you, thank you, thank you!
I received the beautiful gourd rattle last Saturday (5/24), and
it was a perfect timing. My meeting on 5/24 to 5/25 went
beautifully, and I felt a strong connection with the creator.
I cedered off the gourd rattle at the midnight, and I gave it to
my boyfriend. He was surprised and was very touched
by your beautiful work. He says that it is his favorite gourd rattle
he has ever had, and a fireman said it was a meeting quality gourd rattle.
I mentioned your name in the meeting and prayed for you as well.
I have to go for work now, but I just wanted to say hi and express
my much gratitude towards you.
I will send you pictures soon.
Please take care,
,Hawaii

Mr Scott,

My name is Donna , I am 46 years old and I am Pawnee Indian.

when ever I get beaders block. I get on the internet and browse threw Pow Wow .com or go on eBay . But when I went on your web sight it just blew me away.

Your work has inspired me a lot, there is something different in your work it has capture the beauty and pride of all tribes, to me your work has push us up a step further in our Art . I think it will encourage the younger generation to be more creative with the colors, especially now with the new colors we have in our beads..

I have been beading since 1980's . I was born in Pawnee but raised in Houston and every time when we visited our relatives in Oklahoma I would always study the way Earrings , Rosette and Fans are made.

I have Parry Romberg Syndrome (PRS) on the right side of my face it has effective the vision on the right eye as well as my hearing . Because of this I suffer with migraines attacks and dizzy spells. So on my good days I try to do as much bead work when I can .

Your web site is special to me, it gives me a boost to be creative. I pass this on to my sons and niece's and nephews . Thank you for sharing your talent with others your work I'm sure has inspire so many people..

Please take care and God Bless you Always ....

This is one of the Finest fans I have ever seen in my life. Just holding it, just see it, it makes me feel like I could get well, and it feels like I could be blessed with anything I want in my life! These fans are so well balanced, the feeling, the colors, the design, the handle, every thing feels so balance about these fans!

R Yazzie, Gallup, New Mexico

(You are the best in this business, how could I not interview the finest, best of the best fan maker for the article I am working on; The peyote art, for the American Indian Art Magazine. You deserve it!)

Angie, Manatoba, Canada

(I am Lakota Sioux, from Pine Ridge SD. I just wanted to write to you to say that you have some outstanding work. I just can’t explain the beauty of your fans and gourds. I also wanted to tell you that just recently I started to try and learn this way of art. I have learned how to bead the simple peyote stitch and l learned it from reading about it on the net. I can’t seem to find anybody that knows too much about this style. I have so much information about the designs and the way they came about. I feel very strong about this way and have attended several meetings before. The passion that I get when I work on, look at or read about this way is unexplainable. I feel that you have given me some inspiration to keep on trying to learn and never give up. Thank You for listening to me)

Nikolaus, South Dakota

(One thing you need to know is, you are the best, the very best at what you do. There is no one that compares with you, can even come close, or match you. You are the only person that I would consider to pay to make fans for me, because you are so good. You are amazingly talented and you are one of a kind.)

Cynthia, California

(I try to make each piece something worthy of praying with. That is why I wanted you to do the beadwork on this piece. In my opinion, you are the beadmaster. I have never seen any work to match yours. I have 3 of your fan handles, ones that I bought on Ebay. I used one of them (the yellow, red and black one) on a really nice fan. For the quality of work you do, this is a cheap price.)

John, California

(I was referred to your site to view your work on peyote (my interest) fans. I was fascinated by the amount of detail that is obvious in your artistic creations. I appreciate detail but I was particularly drawn to the collaboration of colors that you were able to blend together. I have a twelve-year old son that.....)
